Accounting Technician

Job Description:

Reports to:      The Senior Accountant in the Treasurer’s Department

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of the travel management system with the accounting system
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable Functions (Trade & Subs /JV)
  • Preparing invoices in a timely fashion
  • Collecting outstanding invoices
  • Preparing Statement of Accounts
  • Coding and entering monthly cash receipts
  • Preparing finance deposits
  • Preparing Aging on a quarterly basis
  • Preparing year end audit working papers for the Accounts Receivable accounts
  • Entering journal entries and other data entries in accounting system
  • Assist in accounts payable;
  • Prepare various account reconciliations;
  • Assist in the audit process;
  • Other related duties required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • DEC; Certificate or diploma in Accounting, or a related field; a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • 2 years of experience in accounting;
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English and French;
  • Excellent working knowledge of SAGE, MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines;
  • Assertive and excellent communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Good team player;
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills;
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures;
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills;
