Resume and Cover Letter Tips

In your resume, include all relevant information to the job you’re applying to. Ensure your contact information is up to day, including your phone and email address.

If you include a cover letter, keeping it short is the name of the game. Get right to the point and explain why you want to apply to a specific position.

Lacking Qualifications – Apply Anyway!

In many cases Makivvik provides the on-the-job training and professional development needed for a position. We encourage you to apply even if you are lacking some of the qualifications listed in the positions. Get your foot in the door as a summer student. It can lead to bigger things!

Of course there are exceptions to this rule – lawyers and toxicologists come to mind. But even in the legal department and the research centre, there are places for paralegal employees, and lab assistants where you can start and work in your area of interest.

5It sounds like Makivvik is a fun place to work.
Yes, it is. Aside from the many employee benefits, we have a good time on the job. We joke a lot, but we take our work very seriously. We are dealing with important issues regarding the advancement of the Inuit of Nunavik, but with those responsibilities come the very human things that we cherish together among staff. We have staff days out on the land. We celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, and Christmas together. And, it’s quite common to share lunches of country food together in our offices.
