Coordinator (Qimmiit file)

Job Description:

Reports to:                                   The Assistant Director in the President’s Department.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Program Manager of the Qimmiit file, responsible for organizing the community engagement sessions with the Nunavik communities and Elders, as part of the preparations for compensation and programming.

  • Support the Trust Administrator with trust related activities as requested;
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Coordinating the Program Manager’s travel to the Nunavik communities, and associated administrative tasks (emails, completing expense claims, etc.);
    • Take calls, emails and requests addressed to the Qimmiit team and the Program Manager;
    • Making the arrangements for the community verification process.
    • Making arrangements for Elders, community members to participate in the verification process.
    • Updating the compensation lists that will be used for the trust.
    • Work effectively in a teamwork setting, across multiple departments within Makivvik.
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the community members involved in the individual compensation process.
    • Traveling to the communities as requested.
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.A or equivalent;
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a related field;
  • Excellent communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Great knowledge of: Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles;
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability;
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as a team leader;
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills;
  • Inuit and cultural knowledge and understanding, is required;
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills, the capacity to work autonomously and a great team player.
