Community Engagement Manager

Job Description:

Reports to:                                    The Co-Director in the Economic Development Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting scheduled community relations initiatives related to EDD projects and programs;
  • Provides support to the Community through engagement initiatives virtually and in person;
  • Support activities of the Economic Development team;
  • Oversee community engagement events internally and externally, including team briefings;
  • Plan and budget activities relating to community engagement;
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with leaders and community organizations.
  • Assist the EDD team to research Funding Agencies for Economic Development Planning Projects;
  • Encourage community counterparts to participate in trainings related to funding applications;
  • Directly coordinate community participation to all EDD related special events;
  • Find community development networking, project planning, and social events related to Community Economic Development Planning;
  • In collaboration with senior staff, research and report on Inuit employment and recruitment initiatives;
  • Promotion of the region’s unique characteristics that could be developed (various sectors of the Nunavik Economy);
  • Work, when required, with other Makivvik departments to develop synergies for the successful achievement of both economic and socioeconomic development initiatives;
  • Be available to travel, as requested;
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Commerce or relevant experience;
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience;
  • Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Good computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Experience and/or knowledge in research and reporting;
  • Project proposal/review and funding applications;
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
  • Experience in project planning and execution.
