Job Description:

Reports to:                                    The Vice-President, Economic Development Department

Responsibilities:

  • Assist and advise the VP and both Co-Directors of the Department in all their corporate duties;
  • Oversee all incoming and outgoing communication, including emails, phone calls and reports, and internal correspondences directed to the VP;
  • Maintain record of important documents, such as reports, meeting notes, emails, and letters;
  • Keep the Executive’s schedule up to date, organize and prepare including gathering documents and attending logistics for meetings and events;
  • Establish effective goals and objectives of the department’s role in providing administrative services;
  • Attend senior management, and executive meetings;
  • Work closely with the Vice President, Economic Development in both political and administrative functions of the Department;
  • Coordinate the activities of the Vice President and both Co-Directors with all relevant government departments, regional and local organizations and other Makivvik Departments;
  • Active Files Management and Coordination;
  • Oversee and provide support to the administrative and daily activities of the office of the Economic Development Department;
  • Draft and receive correspondence on behalf of the Vice President and Co-Directors;
  • Organize meetings and schedule conference calls;
  • Coordinate the administrative responsibilities with the staff with-in the Vice President’s department;
  • Prepare presentations requested by the Vice President in collaboration with the Co-Directors of the Department;
  • Create, update and review spreadsheets;
  • Coordinate special events logistics;
  • Following up on meeting action items with the Vice President and the Co-Directors of the department;
  • Assist on various projects with the staff of the Economic Development Department;
  • Participate or be open to being appointed to committees requested by the Vice President, Economic Development and/or the Corporation;
  • Be available to travel, as requested;
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • University degree, Bachelor in a relevant field;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related field;
  • Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Great computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills;
  • Strong managerial and inter-personal/diplomatic skills;
  • Reliable and autonomous;
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability;
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills;
  • Knowledge of Nunavik’s Socioeconomic, Economic, and Community Development needs;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement and excellent work ethic;
  • Knowledgeable in funding applications and report writing;
  • Ability to provide sound advice to the Vice President on Economic Development matters.
