Education and Outreach Coordinator
Job Description:
Reports to: The Assistant Director in the Department of Environment, Wildlife and Research.
Responsibilities:
Play a lead role in the development of a communication and outreach program that strengthens the relationship between DEWR and Nunavik Inuit; tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing outreach campaigns and educational materials aimed at: reinforcing Inuit values, knowledge and traditional approaches to wildlife management;
- Supporting other DEWR/NRC staff in their efforts to engage with community representatives;
- Strengthening local capacity to engage in, and lead, wildlife management and research, environmental monitoring and planning;
- Assist in the coordination of harvest studies, wildlife monitoring programs and other research;
- Be available to travel, as requested;
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma;
- Other diplomas or degree in a related field, is as asset;
- Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
- Strong computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and graphic design/illustration;
- Previous experience in a similar capacity is an asset; Proven ability to design projects and ensure effective project management;
- Inuit traditions and cultural knowledge and understanding, is an asset;
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communications skills;
- Comfortable with public speaking or speaking to large crowds;
- Demonstrate the capacity to work autonomously and a great team player.
Training will be available for Beneficiaries in the advancement for their career.
