Assistant Director
Job Description:
Reports to: The Director in the Corporate Secretary’s Department.
Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with the Director of the Corporate Secretary’s Department to implement Executive decisions and programs under the responsibility of the Corporate Secretary’s department;
- Assist the Director of the Corporate Secretary’s Department in the management of the human resources of the department;
- Assist in defining departmental policies and procedures;
- Assist in establishing objectives, policies, budgets and procedures, as well as monitoring expenses and metrics;
- Assist in the yearly code of conduct and performance evaluations in a timely manner;
- Oversee Makivvik’s offices in the communities with the exception of Kuujjuaq, Inukjuak, Montreal & Quebec City;
- Ensure Office administrators are supported and monitored;
- Upkeep Makivvik Corporation’s leases and filed in a properly fashion;
- Coordinate daily operations, ensure compliance with regulations, manage staffing, and monitor objectives within the Corporate secretary department;
- Replace the Director at any meetings or management responsibilities in his absence;
- Be available to travel, as requested;
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of relevant work experience;
- Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
- Good computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
- Inuit traditions and cultural knowledge and understanding, is an asset;
- Experience in management – Business Administration;
- Accomplished team leader who can inspire and lead a team towards achieving common goal;
- Demonstrates the capacity to work autonomously, a great team player and takes initiative.
